The Armchair Antiquarian is a project that began in 1993 when I first became interested in the meaning of monuments. This led me to develop an interest in prehistoric sites, especially stone circles and megaliths. I wrote extensively about this for my Master's degree and began to develop a body of work from this beginning with the series of drawings "Early on the morning we arrived..." which depicts my experience of walking towards the Nine Standards in Yorkshire in 1999. The body of work has travelled and progressed since then; I experiment with media, work consciously in the style of antiquarian printmakers, go back and rework older pieces, invent landscapes and in essence, dream the past onto paper.
